Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American television journalist anchor and anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. After growing up living in New York City, Mitchell received a degree in English literature at The University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as the Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located situated in Washington DC. In Washington she was made general correspondent for NBC News two year later. In 1981, she began covering for the White House, and in 1988, she was promoted to chief congressional Correspondent. She was appointed chief White House correspondent by NBC News in the year 1992. Mitchell was a panelist and presenter of the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the debates in 1988 between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her role to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on for the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell covered a wide range of important stories including the Iran-Contra scandal, the tax reforms to the budget as well as arms control. She traveled together with President Ronald Reagan several times for summits, and to discuss matters like that of the Iran Contra controversy.
